You’ve chosen the dark arts. Good choice. Warlocks in World of Warcraft blend chaos and control. Legion was their shining moment. Whether you’re a veteran or a newbie wanting to wield Fel, navigating the Legion content can be chaotic. Don’t worry. This guide is your pact with power, no soul-binding involved.
Dreadscar Rift: Your Legion Warlock Class Hall
Each class in Legion got a hangout. Warlocks? We got the Dreadscar Rift. It’s your slice of the Twisting Nether, found in Dalaran. Less scenic route, more scenic rift.
Getting There: It’s Sewers, But Demonic
- Teleport or walk to Dalaran, the floating city now in the Broken Isles.
- Find the biggest tower. Aim for the Violet Citadel, then betray that goal.
- Instead of the stairs to the Citadel, look right of the stairs. That entrance is your sewer access. Not actually sewers. Mostly.
- Go down. You’re searching for a demonic portal. Hard to miss.
- Step through the portal. Welcome to the Dreadscar Rift. Try not to bring back too much demonic residue; the mages will get upset.
Legion Warlock Quests: Starting and Skipping
Ready to dive into the Legion Warlock campaign? Excellent. It has demons, drama, and wild fashion. Here’s how to start and by it for alts.
Starting the Legion Warlock Questline: Outlandish Overture
New characters venturing into Legion start automatically at level 50 when they approach the Hero’s Call Board (Alliance in Stormwind) or Warchief’s Command Board (Horde in Orgrimmar). Look for “Fight The Legion.” Not subtle.
This will usually give you “The Legion Returns.” Follow this demon invasion breadcrumb trail. You’ll be deep in Legion content fast.
Skipping the Legion Campaign on Alts: Banished That
Leveling alts? The Legion campaign shines once, twice maybe. By your third trip, you’re ready to skip ahead. Thankfully, Blizzard allows it.
Horde Alt Skip (Alliance, sorry):
- Find Holgar Stormaxe. He gets the alt struggle.
- Talk to Holgar for “To Be Prepared.” A quick precursor.
- Complete “To Be Prepared.” It often involves a chat or minor task.
- Magic Dialogue Option: After that, talk to Holgar again. You should see a skip option for the Legion campaign questline.
Congratulations, you’ve skipped ahead and can now roam the Broken Isles at your own pace.
Warlock Mounts: Legion Edition
Every Warlock needs a fitting mount. Legion provided class-specific steeds that shout “I made a deal with a demon!” the iconic Felsteed from Classic WoW? Nostalgia is a strong spell.
Legion Warlock Class Mount: Infernal Steed Awaits
Want that glorious, fire-hooved Warlock class mount? Here’s the infernal process:
- “A Glorious Campaign” Achievement: First, complete your Warlock Order Hall campaign in Legion. This links to “A Glorious Campaign.” If you missed it, get back to the Dreadscar Rift and quest.
- “Breaching the Tomb” Achievement: Next, tackle “Breaching the Tomb.” This achievement is -wide.
- Broken Shore Shenanigans: Start at the Broken Shore. Fight the Legion forces there. The achievement is meta with smaller quests to complete.
- Final Quest Chain: After “Breaching the Tomb” is done on one character, return to the Broken Shore with your targeted Warlock. Find a quest for a short chain. Complete this, and the demonic steed is yours.
Important Note: -Wide “Breaching the Tomb” Thanks to patches, only do “Breaching the Tomb” once per . Still, finish the Legion campaign on each Warlock character for the mount. -wide achievement, per-character completion. Understand? Good.
Classic WoW Warlock Mount: Felsteed at Level 40 (Mostly Free-ish)
Classic WoW never handed out mounts freely. Warlocks received a discount instead. Did we get a “free” mount? No. Conveniently priced and quest-obtained? Yes.
Summoning Your Felsteed in Classic:
- Level 40 Requirement: Hit level 40 for demonic transport.
- Strahad Farsan in Ratchet: Find Strahad Farsan in Ratchet. He’s northeast of town by a tower near the cliffside. Look for the shady Warlock dude.
- “Summon Felsteed” Questline: Start the “Summon Felsteed” questline with Strahad. It involves materials and some gold, but it’s cheaper than standard mount costs.
So “free” might be misleading. “Cheaper and cooler through a demonic ritual” is accurate for the Classic Warlock Felsteed.
Level 30 Warlock Quest: “Beginning Impositions” and Darkmoon Faire
Around level 30, Warlocks get “Beginning Impositions.” It’s a fun detour involving impositions and the Darkmoon Faire.
Starting the Level 30 Warlock Quest:
- Level 30 Requirement: Reach level 30. Obvious but needed.
- Assistant Phineas: Seek out Assistant Phineas for this adventure.
- Alliance: Find him in the Mage Quarter of Stormwind near arcane things.
- Horde: Phineas lurks in the Shadowed Cleft in Orgrimmar, as expected.
- Darkmoon Faire Express: Talk to Phineas. He’ll offer “Beginning Impositions” and send you to the Darkmoon Faire by carriage. Enjoy; it’s the most stylish transport before summoning portals.
Follow the questline from there. It’s a delightful bit of Warlock content to spice up leveling.
Legion Questing: The Broader Picture
Beyond class quests, Legion is full of content. New to Legion, or want a refresher? Here’s how to get started with general questing:
Starting the General Legion Questline:
- Level 50+ Check Boards: At level 50 or above, check mission boards in Stormwind or Orgrimmar. Grab “Fight The Legion.”
- “The Legion Returns”: Accept this quest to enter Legion content.
- Broken Shore Intro: You’ll start in the Broken Shore scenario. Demon Hunters enter Mardum, their edgier intro.
- Dalaran Moves, Artifact Weapons: After, Dalaran teleports to the Broken Isles. You’ll get quests for Artifact Weapons and unlock your Class Hall (Dreadscar Rift for Warlocks).
- Artifact Weapon Quest Start: Pick up your first Artifact Weapon quest in Dalaran after the initial chain.
Legion World Quests: End-Game Content (Now Level 60/70)
World Quests in Legion unlock at level 110. With squished levels, that means 60-70 now. After progressing through Legion, World Quests will show up across all Legion zones:
- Legion Zones: Stormheim, Highmountain, Val’sharah, Suramar, and Azsuna are where you solve Legion-related problems.
- Faction Rep and “Uniting the Isles”: To unlock World Quests, reach Friendly reputation with five major Legion factions. Completing “Uniting the Isles” unlocks World Quests.
