Batman: Arkham Knight: Your Questions Answered – Missions, Endings, and More!

So, you’re entering Gotham in Batman: Arkham Knight? Great choice! But you might have questions. Can you skip that mission that’s stressing you out? How many endings can this story have? Don’t worry, we’ve got answers. Consider this your Bat-Signal for Arkham Knight, minus the bats… mostly.

Mission Mayhem: Skipping and Retrying

Can you skip missions in Arkham Knight? Short answer: No.

Batman sticks to justice. You can’t skip hard parts; you must tackle them directly. Good news! You can retry missions as often as you want. This reflects Batman’s “never give up” spirit. Stuck on a challenge? Try a different gadget. Sometimes, a new plan can make you a Bat-hero.

And cutscenes? Yes, you can skip those! Arkham Knight allows skipping almost every cutscene. This gets you back into action quickly. Perfect for replaying sections or when you’ve seen Bruce Wayne brood for the tenth time and wish to resume beating thugs.

Endings: The Bat-Finale (or Finales?)

Did you know Batman: Arkham Knight has multiple endings? It has two ways to end the main story. Think of it like choosing between vanilla or chocolate – both are tasty, but one might feel more complete.

After credits? Gotham remains yours to explore! Completing the main story unlocks an extended ending, and the city stays open. You can swing around, take side missions, and continue your reign as the Caped Crusader. For ideas on what to do post-game, check out Screen Rant’s guide on best activities.

Arkham Game Order: Batman’s Chronological Conundrum

New to the Arkhamverse? Wondering where to start? Or maybe you’re a veteran seeking the correct order to play. For the ultimate experience, play chronologically by release:

  1. Batman: Arkham Asylum
  2. Batman: Arkham City
  3. Batman: Arkham Origins
  4. Batman: Arkham Knight

This shows gameplay evolution as intended. However, there’s a wildcard: Arkham Origins. It’s a prequel story-wise, set before Asylum. Gameplay opinions are divided. Some players love it; others ignore it. The good news? Skipping Arkham Origins won’t affect crucial Arkham Knight story beats. You will manage fine. If you want more insight into essential Arkham games, check out Gamerant’s ranking.

Character Deep Dive: Beyond the Bat

Arkham Knight has many iconic characters adding layers to the story. Let’s break down a few key players:

  • Joker: He dies in Arkham City, but his influence looms large in Arkham Knight. The game opens with his cremation! But he isn’t truly gone. You even play as him during certain parts, including flashbacks in Arkham Origins.
  • Scarecrow: Despite the title, Scarecrow is the real villain in Arkham Knight. His fear toxin causes panic in Gotham. He is your final boss. that Croc encounter in Arkham Asylum? It traumatized him, leading to him grafting his mask onto his face. What commitment!
  • Azrael: You’ll find Azrael on rooftops around Founders’ Island. He offers side missions that are combat challenges. Playing as him felt like being Batman. In the larger Batman universe, Azrael is intriguing – often a hero and anti-hero, fitting neither neatly.
  • Red Hood (Jason Todd): Poor Jason Todd! The Joker harmed him badly. He came back in the Lazarus Pit, becoming the Red Hood, filled with anger and a strained bond with Batman. They share unresolved issues.
  • Catwoman: Catwoman always has her agenda. In Arkham City, her DLC story contains a secret ending! If you make a specific choice, she can escape Arkham City with her loot. A cat burglar with priorities!
  • Batman Himself: Slight spoiler alert! Let’s discuss Batman’s ending in Arkham Knight. theories about him faking his death? Developers confirmed it. Batman pulls off dramatic exits even in his “death.”

Gameplay Nuggets: Everything Else You Need to Know

A few more Bat-facts to round things out:

  • Point of No Return? Nah: The game warns of a “point of no return” before the final mission. Don’t worry! It’s misleading. You can continue side missions after the main story. Gotham will always need saving!
  • Missable Content? Nope, Again: Relax! Nothing misses in Arkham Knight. Breathe easy.
  • Militia Missions: Get ready for numerous Militia missions! There are about 64 Militia missions available. Destroy all Watchtowers, Bombs, and Checkpoints for a bonus boss fight, tallying to 65. Plenty to keep you occupied.
  • Gotham’s Most Wanted: Beyond main villains, Gotham has “Most Wanted” criminals. Think Azrael, Man-Bat, Firefly, Two-Face, Killer Croc, and more. They are targets for Batman’s side missions, enhancing the city’s criminal lore.
  • Open World Freedom: Gotham in Arkham Knight is a full playground from the start. It’s a true open world, allowing exploration without loading screens. Experience seamless Bat-gliding and Batmobile driving across the city.

Return to Arkham: Remastered Goodness

Thinking of revisiting classics? “Batman: Return to Arkham” is a bundle of remastered versions of “Batman: Arkham Asylum” and “Batman: Arkham City.” They have updated visuals, making great games look sharper. Experience the early Arkham magic with a fresh coat!

Time to 100% Completion: How Long is the Bat-Journey?

The main question for completionists: how much time for finishing Arkham Knight? If you rush for the main story, count on around 21 hours. But for a full completion— every Riddler trophy, every side mission—plan for up to 59 hours. Enough time to truly become the Batman.

Still have questions? Want to explore further into the Arkham Knight universe? IGN’s Arkham Knight guide is full of information. Happy gaming, Bat-fans!
